The father-son collaborations of saxophone legend Steve Dyer and piano master Bokani Dyer provide a wide-ranging set of musical offerings, drawing from South African Jazz to the broader array of musical styles of Southern Africa. With more than 35 years on the South African music and jazz scene as a musician, composer, conceptualizer, leader, producer of outstanding South African artists and strong proponent of Ubuntu, Steve has developed a reputation as one of the most visionary forces in South African music. His own brilliant projects and ensembles explore a wide variety of contexts as well as embracing many disciplines, including theater, dance and art. With more than 7 albums to his name, including the award-winning Genesis of a Different World, Steve’s unique combination of Southern African musical traditions with the best of the jazz tradition will give the audience a soulful, spiritual, joyous and uplifting experience. Recently completing a highly successful 8-city tour with his son Bokani Dyer in a duo called DyerLogue, (their first in the U.S), Steve will be returning to the U.S in 2024 with a dynamic ensemble that will embrace the full scope of his profound artistry.
