Rising Stars: Linda Sikhakhane and Ndabo Zulu
Two of South African Jazz’s most exciting rising stars, saxophonist Linda Sikhakhane and trumpeter Ndabo Zulu, join forces for a side-by-side performance of their respective bands and styles. Rising to prominence through earlier collaborations with master pianist Nduduzo Makhathini, Zulu and Sikhakhane have each developed unique and brilliant fusions of Jazz with the rich cultural traditions of the Zulu people. Having already enjoyed initial successes and press accolades in the States, each artist is poised to make an incredible breakthrough with American audiences.
Drawing upon two distinct sets of repertoire, and exploring each artist’s unique and brilliant compositional and improvisational voice, this performance package offers audiences a first-hand glimpse into the genre-defying genius that has been developing in South Africa’s Jazz scene.
